Belugas swim through St. Michael School

I left to the village of St. Michael on Feb. 17th to begin the Anthony Andrews School Mural project.  It was hard leaving home, but the students, teachers, and community of St. Michael were all wonderfully hospitable.  I felt warmly welcomed, and I would like to especially thank the three maintenance men and the cooks, you guys were great!  The painting went well.  I braved the scaffolding each day knowing that with each brush stroke I was getting closer to seeing my family. Anyway I just wanted to share the completed mural with you.  The overall dimensions are 20′ x 13′ 3″. I arrived back in Nome on March 6th.

  1. Awesome, James. . .it makes me feel like I’m swimming right along with the whales 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing you, Amy & Justice within just a few days.

  2. Ohhhh, my goodness… this is amazing; so beautiful and detailed. I can’t believe I actually KNOW you. I should be at LEAST second-hand famous because I’m your friend. 🙂 Seriously though; God’s gifted you in an unbelievable way and you did a fantastic job! And AMY, way to go holding the fort down at home and keeping the little baby beluga fat and happy. 🙂 Love you guys!

  3. Awesome, beautiful work! (as usual) I love the frame you painted around the mural, too!
Stephen wants to know if you can paint a lifesize blue whale for him, so he can see just how big one is?
