A beautifully frigid cloudless night set the backdrop for the first Winter Solstice lunar eclipse since 1638. It was spectacular! I can only discribe it as a constantly running lightbulb that has never been turned off in your lifetime, suddenly being swithched off and allowing you for the first time to examine the bulb itself rather than the light produced by it. The moon took shape. It was transformed from and flat lighted object to a three dimensional orb. This post is a long time overdue, but I just wanted to share the pictures.
