The last couple of days have brought a little extra sunshine into our long, long winter. Recently, every morning our family has been taking a drive east out of Nome to see the progress of the ice break-up. However, this year we were able to see several spotted seals lounging on the ice. Yesterday we counted 7 seals in different sections of the ice. Amazing! Great view in the binoculars, but not good enough for pictures. Then today we were going to go for our morning drive, but did not have to as the ice broke free from shore. Now we just have the amazing view of ice chunks floating from our windows! The temperature was 55 today! Some days we think, why do we live here or we think, wow look where we live!
