Grandpa and Grandma made there way back to Alaska and we were so excited to have them here for two full weeks.  It is hard to see them leave, because we always have so much fun.  We explored new places we have never been before, they spoiled the grandkids, played James’ favorite game Catan everynight, a girls only shopping trip, they spoiled us with a new grill and we always ate great home cooked food every night.

The first day they arrived and our friends called and invited us halibut fishing.  I was able to find a friend to take the kids and it was perfect, we all went.  The best part was that we came back with our limit!  Hence, the great food, my mom and I were cooking up some halibut recipes to share  with each other.

Almost everyone on the boat caught several salmon sharks before the halibut started to bite.

After about an hour of catching salmon shark, then the halibut just kept on coming.

They even went home with some salmon. This year people were asking them, "What are you using?"
They even went home with some salmon. Since the days they fished were slow and not many people catching, however, when mom and dad showed up and caught 3 in 20 minutes. People were asking them, “What are you using?” Mom and Dad were shocked when everyone started changing their line.

By boat, we charted new territory and visited the village of Seldovia.

Archer liked looking at book and coloring inside the boat. Typical.

My mom and I met Patti, the friendliest local there was. We met picking beach glass and the next thing we knew we were off in her car to the best berry patches in Seldovia. I was in heaven! We had a blast!

Our last night with them on the way home from the lake was memorable as we drove home that evening, the sky put on a show with a colorful sunset and the animals were out and about. I love porcupines and the boys saw there first. Then we saw about six moose and an eagle. Then as we took them to the airport we did one last drive to see caribou and then we said our goodbyes. We were sad on the way home and we were just barely out of Kenai when we see a couple cars pulled over. So we pull over, since we were in no rush and there in the ditch is a brown bear playing with the pastic marker sign. As we sat and watched, Mom and Dad’s plane flew over us and we were already wishing they were still here to share these special moments together. We miss and love you lots!!
